 My Addiction
Yes, that's right, you heard right...I'm addicted to cameras and lenses; so there! It's pretty funny...when I went from my Fuji FinePix S3000 to the Canon Digital Rebel, it was a huge step up! I mean, from point-and-shoot to digital SLR is amazing. If anyone wants to improve their photography significantly, just go out and buy the original Digital Rebel, it's only $600 or less now!
When I upgraded from the original Digital Rebel to the Rebel XT, it was a nice upgrade...faster, better USB support, higher-resolution...very nice! Now, however, after using the Canon 20D with battery grip and hand strap, when I take a picture with the Rebel XT, it feels like a toy. I mean, a very NICE toy...a lightweight toy...but a toy nonetheless. I'm going to continue to use the Rebel XT as my backup camera for gigs...I'm shooting a wedding next week (05/20/06) and that should be fun. I'd hate to have my 20D suddenly die in the middle of a wedding and not have another camera to continue shooting with.
As you can see, I have the 50mm f/1.4 which is an amazing piece of glass. I don't think I'll ever buy any of Canon's "L" line of lenses, just because they're so expensive...but I'm sensing that my next piece will be the versatile EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM simply because I like the idea of image stabilization and I think the range of that lens would probably allow me to leave the 18-55mm kit lens on the Rebel XT at all times.
Whew! Does anyone out there have any favorite focal lengths or speeds or other photographic addictions they'd like to share? Ahh, for the days of the coffee and cigarette addictions...so much cheaper! ;)
This thing has been banging around in my head for awhile, and so...I took the afternoon off, and ate way too many gummy bears and this is the result. Enjoy!
My first shared photomanipulation with tracie76 (http://tracie76.deviantart.com/)
on deviantART ... isn't she fantastic!? Please go visit her site, and give her much thanks for being so visually creative and kind! She was instrumental indrawing-out and perfecting the final work!
Photograph of window and me, taken by me (my wireless remote
rocks!). Composited with the wonderful "Beach Stock" (http://www.deviantart.com/view/19378915/) from demongaara-stock (http://demongaara-stock.deviantart.com/).
Now that I have chromakey green and blue cards, I think I'm going to start playing a little more with compositing.
 Gaze into my Crystal Ball
1.6 s at f/2.8, Canon at 100mm, 100 ISO (RAW)
I'm really liking this long-exposure, tripod, painting with light scene. This is ALL camera...and that lens flare was intentional. I have this quartz crystal ball - with holder - attached to the outside wall of my office. It is one of my prize possessions!
 The Patriotic Mess We're In

I'm in a particularly non-Patriotic mood today.
